Why does it take so long?

JobYOYO.com Staff Writer, Aimee Clark Jenkins

Often when you are looking for a job, the wait can seem endless. You wonder if
the employer received the resume, then you wait to see if you will get the call
for an interview. After the interview you wait, and wait, and wait.

There really is a method to the madness, but often when you're on the outside
you think they're stalling or didn't like you.

In actuality it's pretty simple: If it's a large company, there is always
bureaucracy, and usually a pool of candidates to choose from for each job. Also,
the HR Department has other jobs to fill, and is short staffed and generally
swamped with recruiting.

So, you wait ... be sure you send a thank you note to the person who
interviewed you. Also, keep your resume updated and don't stop your job search.
Within a week you can send an email and ask the status of the position. Don't be pushy.
